An azole antifungal; active against dermatophyte fungal species, including isolates of various Candida species; non-specific inhibitor of styrene metabolism by cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes; inhibits various CYP450 isoforms in human lymphoblast microsomes in vitro (Kis = 0.008-3.5 µM); inhibits heme oxygenase 1 activity in rat spleen microsomes (IC50 = 1.1 µM); inhibits DNA damage induced by styrene metabolism by bacterial CYP450cam (Ki = 204.2 μM)
