An inhibitor of ferroptosis; inhibits erastin-induced ferroptosis in HT-1080 and NIH3T3 cells at 1 μM; prevents renal tubular damage and prevents increases in serum levels of urea and creatine in a mouse model of renal IRI at 2 mg/kg; increases the levels of GPX4, xCT, and GSH and decreases levels of IL-1β, TNF-α, ICAM-1, and 4HNE in injured spinal cord epicenters in a rat model of spinal cord injury at 15 mg/kg; increases tissue sparing and improves locomotor recovery in the same model
