Description
A triterpenoid saponin with diverse biological activities; reduces expression of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β in LPS-stimulated primary mouse macrophages; increases the survival rate in mice with LPS-induced lethal endotoxemia; reduces weight loss, brain edema, blood-brain barrier disruption, and cortex IL-6 and TNF-α protein levels in the ipsilateral cortex in a rat model of traumatic brain injury at 20 mg/kg; reduces the number of nasal rubs and levels of serum TNF-α in an ovalbumin-sensitized allergic rhinitis mouse model in vivo at 8 mg/kg; reduces duration and frequency of epileptiform discharges in rat hippocampal CA1 neurons in a 4-AP seizure model; decreases viability in six HCC, H358 lung and MCF-7 breast cancer, as well as Jurkat and K582 leukemia cell lines at 20 µM; prolongs tumor growth inhibition in LoVo and SW480 HCC mouse xenograft models in vivo at 2 mg/kg
