A sesquiterpene with diverse biological activities; found in C. sativa; decreases SOD and catalase activity, reduces GSH levels, and increases MDA levels in the brain at 50 mg/kg in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease induced by rotenone; reduces worm burden and egg production in a mouse model of schistosomiasis at 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg; has antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity in mice at 300 and 400 mg/kg
