A purine ribonucleoside with diverse biological activities; reduces HSV-1 viral plaque formation in Vero cells (IC50 = 0.6 µM); active against M. phlei, M. avium, M. tuberculosis, and B. abortus; cytotoxic to COS-7 cells at 10 and 100 µM; induces pyknosis in mouse sarcoma 180 cells and mouse embryonic skin explants; inhibits root growth of wheat seedlings from 0.1-2 mM; inhibits adenosine deaminase (Ki = 16 µM)
