Description
A fluoroquinolone antibiotic; active against P. multocida in vitro (MIC = 0.016 μg/ml); broad-spectrum antibacterial activity mediated by DNA gyrase inhibition against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria (MICs = 0.016-0.4 and 0.19-1.7 µg/ml, respectively); prevents pulmonary lesion formation in vivo in a bovine calf model of Mannheimia haemolytica A1 pneumonia (2 mg/kg, i.m.); reduces the parasitic load by 72% in a canine model of leishmaniasis (2 mg/kg per day)
