A prodrug form of EGCG; cleaved by intracellular esterases to form EGCG; reduces proteasome activity in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells extracts at 50 µM; induces apoptosis in, and inhibits proliferation of, MDA-MB-231 cells at 50 µM; decreases colonic IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α levels, as well as reduces colonic shortening, tissue damage, and inflammatory cell infiltration in a DSS-induced mouse model of colitis at 0.085%
