CU-CPT9a is an antagonist of toll-like receptor 8 (TLR8).{35162} It inhibits activation of NF-κB induced by the TLR8 agonist R-848 (Item No. 14806) in TLR8-overexpressing HEK-Blue cells (IC50 = 0.5 nM). CU-CPT9a reverses R-848-induced increases in NF-κB p65, IRAK-4, and TRAF3 protein levels in HEK-Blue cells.

The maintenance of embryonic stem cells in culture typically requires feeder cells and various exogenous factors found in serum. Murine embryonic stem (mES) cells can be maintained in the absence of feeder cells and serum but require the leukemia inhibitor factor (LIF) and bone morphogenic protein (BMP) to prevent differentiation and promote self-renewal.
