Description
An alkaloid with diverse biological activities; decreases synoviocyte proliferation and reduces paw and joint swelling in a rat model of adjuvant-induced arthritis when applied topically; reduces tumor incidence, number, and volume in a rat model of DMBA-induced mammary gland tumorigenesis at 4 and 8 mg/kg per day; prevents decreases in SOD, CAT, and GPX activity and increases the level of GSH in mammary tissues in a rat model of DMBA-induced mammary gland tumorigenesis at 4 and 8 mg/kg per day; allosterically enhances the effect of low, but not high, concentrations of acetylcholine at M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors
