A natural steroid glycoside with diverse effects; inhibits production of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, NO, and ROS in HT-29 and RAW 264.7 cells in a dose-dependent manner; inhibits N-type calcium channels in rat sensory neurons (IC50 = 40 μM); has antinociceptive effects in mice in the acetic acid abdominal constriction test and in the biphasic formalin test (ED50s = 56 and 129 mg/kg, respectively); reduces ear swelling by 34.8% in a mouse model of contact dermatitis
