Description
A xanthone glucoside with diverse biological activities; increases survival of HIV-1-infected MT-2 human leukemia cells (EC50 = 3.59 μg/ml); inhibits tumor growth and increases lifespan in an AFS mouse xenograft model at 10 μg/g; reduces TPA-induced production of H2O2 by mouse peritoneal macrophages ex vivo at 50 mg/kg; decreases TPA-induced DNA fragmentation in mouse liver and brain at 50 mg/kg; increases survival of γ-irradiated mice from 0.25-2 mg/kg; reduces fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL-C levels in a rat model of streptozotocin-induced diabetes by 50, 57, 38.5, and 70%, respectively, at 10 mg/kg, i.p.
