Aminophenazone is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory compound.{45093} It decreases acetic acid-induced writhing in mice (ED50 = 46 mg/kg, s.c.) and reduces inflammation in a rat model of paw edema when administered at a dose of 48.2 mg/kg. Formulations containing aminophenazone have previously been used in the treatment of pain.

The maintenance of embryonic stem cells in culture typically requires feeder cells and various exogenous factors found in serum. Murine embryonic stem (mES) cells can be maintained in the absence of feeder cells and serum but require the leukemia inhibitor factor (LIF) and bone morphogenic protein (BMP) to prevent differentiation and promote self-renewal.
