Description
The dextrorotary isomer of L-DOPA; converted to L-DOPA via sequential oxidation and transamination, which are mediated by DAAO and DOPA transaminase, respectively, in rat kidney homogenates; reduces the number of dopaminergic neurons in primary rat embryonic mesencephalic cultures in a concentration-dependent manner; increases striatal dopamine levels in rats at 200 µg/animal; induces contralateral turns in a rat model of 6-OHDA-induced Parkinson’s disease at 20 mg/kg
