Benzylpiperazines (BZP) are stimulant drugs which inhibit monoamine uptake.{20498,20500} BZP and substituted derivatives, such as 1-(3,4-methylenedioxybenzyl)piperazine, have been identified as designer drugs or drugs of abuse.{19508,20497} 1,4-Dibenzylpiperazine (hydrochloride) is a common impurity produced as a reaction byproduct during the synthesis of BZP.
